MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES • Under general supervision, perform work in mechanical engineering and construction estimation for the Sustainable Facilities Division. • Perform design calculations and cost estimations for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, pools, and building envelopes. • Prepare engineering design plans, specifications and estimates for reconstruction and energy efficient upgrades of mechanical systems and Parks structures. • Conduct inspections of mechanical systems, building envelopes, Indoor Air Quality, and all inspections required for the Agency’s Preventive Maintenance program. • Set inspection schedules for three (3) engineering inspectors, as per the direction of the Director of Sustainable Facilities. • Assist the Director in training engineering inspectors. • Assist in sustainability initiatives in a technical capacity, providing engineering support for energy savings calculations and proposed equipment retrofits.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 1. Eight years of full-time satisfactory experience in general construction estimating and a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent; or 2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and a combination of the following sufficient to equal a total of eight years of experience, at least two years of which must be general construction estimating experience: a) Full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering, architecture or construction can be substituted for construction estimating experience on a year-for-year basis. b) Education in civil engineering or architecture, leading to a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or architecture, respectively, can be substituted for up to four years of required experience on the basis of 30 semester credits for one year of acceptable experience.
This position is exempt from NYC residency requirements.
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS 1. Candidate holds a permanent or non-competitive title. 2. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is preferred. 3. Ability to handle multiple projects. 4. Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills. 5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. 6. Knowledge of AutoCAD, PowerPoint and 3D Rendering. 7. Driver license valid in New York State.
Salary: $75,000 - $88,000 plus excellent benefits
