Provide safe and effective management and engineering for design and construction projects involving Grand Central Terminal, Metro-North infrastructure and coordination with East Side Access for various Metro-North Capital Projects. These projects will require coordination between consultants, contractors, Metro-North forces and outside agencies during phases, from design through construction.
Provide project management and direction for consultants and contractors involved in Grand Central Terminal and Metro-North Railroad infrastructure improvements.
Manage safety, scope, budget, and schedule of projects assigned.
Provide project management and direction for Metro-North Railroad forces during construction and system implementations.
Provide technical assistance and design on various engineering issues related to infrastructure improvements.
Direct administration of projects regarding payment, compliance and completion.
Review consultant prepared plans and specifications.
Work with Contract Administration on the resolution of extra work, claims and other contract matters.
Act as liaison with other Metro-North Railroad departments, neighboring properties, local and state agencies.
Knowledge of engineering design techniques and principals.
Knowledge of applicable safety standards.
Ability to present technical material to a group of public officials or community groups in laymen’s terms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.
Working knowledge of CPM scheduling.
Strong project management skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and/or comparable PC applications
Demonstrated knowledge of Program Management, Construction Management, Safety procedures, QA/QC and construction contracts.
Valid Driver’s Licenses Required.
Familiarity with railroad operations.
Proficiency with AutoCAD.
Registered Architect (RA) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and/or Engineering.
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in design and/or inspection oversight of commercial and industrial construction.
Minimum five (5) years of responsibility for a staff and/or project management.
This is a safety sensitive position and subject to toxicological testing.
