The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) at Colorado School of Mines (Mines) invites applications for positions at all ranks, and is especially interested in applications from women and underrepresented minorities. From its inception in 1952, the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department has focused on education and basic and applied research that addresses problems of national interest. We maintain a high-quality, well-funded research program (~$7 million in annual research awards) with strong participation from students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Approximately 80 graduate students and postdoctoral scholars study within a broad research portfolio, including major programs in gas hydrates, energy, soft materials, biomedical research, electronic materials, simulation and modeling, and pedagogy. Many faculty benefit from close collaborations with local partners such as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHC). Responsibilities: The successful candidate(s) will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialty and to mentor graduate students as they develop and sustain a strong, externally funded research program. We are especially interested in candidate(s) whose approach is interdisciplinary and will work broadly and collaboratively, both within the Department and across the Mines campus. While applicants of all ranks and research areas will be considered, we have particular interest in Assistant Professor applicants with expertise in transport phenomena, catalysis, bioengineering, sustainable energy production, and soft materials who are able to work synergistically with other CBE/Mines faculty.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess a PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field, and demonstrated potential for successful teaching, scholarship and service. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal and communications skills.
