This position manages activities within the Engineering/Right of Way Division for the City of Saginaw, Michigan. Also initiates or assists with public works projects; supervises construction projects; and augments the City Engineer in day to day operations of the division to include traffic maintenance, street cleaning, snow and ice control, pavement maintenance, bridge maintenance and repair, composting, brush collection, recycling and forestry.

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; Civil Engineering degree preferred.
Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan; or ability to secure such registry within a period of 24 months from placement into the position.
Minimum three years’ progressive design experience as an engineer and/or project engineer within a municipality, county, state, or other governmental agencies, or an engineering consulting firm involved with city/county engineering projects.
Three years’ progressive supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment
Proficient knowledge of civil, mechanical, structural, hydraulic and utility engineering.
Proficient knowledge of public works engineering as applied to field engineering, land surveying, inspection, construction and maintenance methods and use of appropriate materials..
Proficient knowledge of traffic engineering operations and maintenance procedures and standards
Proficient knowledge of Federal, State and local codes.
Proficient knowledge of design requirements for various improvements and structures.
Proficiency preparing technical reports and evaluations of complex engineering problems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoDesk, Synchro, Simtraffic, or other highway capacity and traffic simulation software. Proficient knowledge of FieldManager, MERL and Roadsoft Software preferred.
