The Director is responsible for providing leadership and management of and technical direction to the water and wastewater engineering and sciences discipline. The Director must able to set high and achievable, performance and operational standards for the team; and, , encourage them team to meet goals professionally and amicably. The Director must have a demonstrated eagerness for the profession and the desire for continuous improvement of the profession and the PEER team delivering these services.
Specifically, the Director must have demonstrated experience in leading the team to perform planning and feasibility studies, prepare engineering plans and specifications, cost estimates, value engineering studies, plan and implement operations and management programs, construction management programs, vertical and horizontal asset management programs, and energy management services.
Additional responsibilities include training and mentoring staff; being an active participant in strategic planning initiatives; marketing and business planning, development and execution; proposal preparation; client outreach; and active participation in professional organizations.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Work independently, but collaboratively with senior management, in a leadership position on water and wastewater engineering projects. This includes having complete planning, implementation, and management (technical, administrative, financial and client contact and interphase) responsibilities for projects.
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams made up of engineers, scientists, technologists and technicians to deliver high quality projects on time and within budget. Projects may be local, regional, national, and international.
Serve as technical lead for a portfolio of projects with responsibility for providing input on deliverables, participating in client presentations, developing proposals and supporting business development activities. Provide strategic direction for leading-edge water infrastructure and environmental programs and projects and promote faster uptake and application within PEER.
Represent company at professional association meetings, serve in professional committees, and likewise promote staff participation within company.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; PMP certification or similar desired.
Minimum 12 - 15 years of demonstrated experience in planning, managing and implementing a variety of environmental engineering projects and programs.
Must have the ability to prepare and review detailed engineering design drawings and specifications.
Must be able the ability to manage and direct AUTOCAD operations.
Must have technical experience with scientific studies and engineering design skills in the water media with an emphasis on potable water, storm water, domestic wastewater, and fresh waters of the US,
Must have demonstrated experience managing people and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Must possess excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to analyze and solve technical problems.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software applications.
Knowledge of pipeline inspection, rehabilitation and condition assessment is highly desired.
Board Certification in Environmental Engineering and Science (AAEES), active membership in professional organizations such as ASCE, AWWA, WEF, etc. is desired.
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience.
