The Water Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of engineering duties involving the performance, design, construction, project management and maintenance of water, steam and chilled water distribution systems. Work will be performed under the direction of the Water & Steam Distribution Principal Engineer, and focused on meeting the Board of Water and Light’s objectives and vision statement.
Develops technical design for new and modified water, steam and chilled water distribution systems.
Develops, implements and monitors programmed water, steam and chilled water distribution system maintenance.
Performs engineering, design and the construction of water, steam and chilled water distribution system projects.
Creates and checks for accuracy in monthly steam and chilled water production and distribution reports.
Responsible for the monthly steam billing for multiple General Motors (GM) locations and reviewing and correcting inaccuracies in the monthly billing for the entire steam and chilled water distribution system. Responsible for customer contact for system outages and usage issues.
Responsible for GM water and steam meter accuracy, calibration and other GM steam and water contract requirements. Assists in the development of procedures and design standards
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is required. Minimum of two (2) years experience in design, construction and project management of water, steam or chilled systems is required. Must have valid Michigan driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Previous experience in design, construction, project management and maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC systems preferred. Previous experience in design, construction and project management of water, steam or chilled systems is preferred. Professional Engineering License is preferred.
