Manage the Geotechnical Department which consists of E.I.T.’s, drilling team, project coordinator, and interns. As well as drilling, testing and reporting operations.
Assign drilling coordinates, depths, sampling quantities, and pricing for each project; give drilling instructions, and make decisions on various engineering and administrative problems in connection with the projects.
Perform engineering calculations based on laboratory testing, such as determining allowable bearing capacity, PVR, effective PI, allowable pier bearing capacity/side shear resistance, and pier uplift forces/resistances for standard projects.
For large/commercial projects, performing settlement and consolidation analyses, providing parameters for lateral resistance of piers/piles, performing retaining wall analysis/design, performing global stability analyses, performing rigid and flexible pavement design analyses.
Complete Geotechnical Engineering Reports.
Perform site visits with clients to discuss problems and potential solutions.
Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
Developing and maintaining client relationships beyond just one job.
Organized, detailed-oriented problem solver with the ability to manage people and meet tight deadlines.
Be willing to continuously learn and develop themselves as a Professional Engineer and to pass on knowledge to EITs and Interns working under them.
If down time occurs, the candidate will use this time to advance the Geotechnical team or collaborate with the materials testing department in lieu of watching non-educational YouTube videos.
A Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
4 years of Geotechnical engineering experience.
Skills and special requirements:
Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
Microsoft Word and Excel, Lpile, RetainPro, Rocscience’s SLIDE and Settle 3D, Volflo, AutoCAD experience.
