Research Associate, Food Industry Management Program and Systems Engineering
RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants are sought in the areas of supply chain operations management, systems engineering, agricultural economics or applied economics to conduct research on issues related to the food systems of production and distribution. We have particular interest in candidates with strong quantitative skills in modeling complex systems, econometrics, and demonstrated ability to work with big data to do research in the following areas: sustainability of food and agriculture systems, food supply chains performance, food marketing and distribution, and related topics. The successful candidate will be expected to work with faculty in the Food Industry Management Program and Systems Engineering to maintain a highly impactful program of research relevant to the food industry. The candidate is expected to publish in high-impact peer reviewed journals in applied economics, engineering and management, and to communicate results to practitioners as well as academic peers.
OPPORTUNITIES: The Food Industry Management Program (FIMP) is widely recognized as the premier food industry education and research program in the United States. An active research program is an integral part of FIMP—a leading source of academic research on the retail and manufacturing sectors of the food industry. The goal of FIMP's research program is to improve food system efficiency and performance by providing timely and useful information to managers. FIMP is part of the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University.

Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is an internationally renowned school in the areas of management, food and agricultural economics, environmental, energy and resource economics, and international and development economics. The undergraduate program is consistently recognized as one of the elite accredited business degrees in the U.S. The graduate program awards research degrees at the doctoral and master's levels and a professional master's degree.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in engineering, economics, agricultural economics or other related fields with outstanding skills in modeling and quantitative methods.
