Description: The Associate Executive Director of Member and Public Engagement (AED) contributes to the overall administration, leadership and cross functional strategy execution for programs such as but not limited to membership acquisition and retention, strategic marketing and communications, and meeting services to position the organization for continued growth. In collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, s/he is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of the Association’s programs, policies and practices while promoting an organizational culture that fosters collaboration, open communications, teamwork and a common organizational vision.
• As a member of the Executive Team, participate in the overall development of the organization’s strategic plans and initiatives by providing input and leadership on membership and public engagement programs. • Manage, motivate, and mentor the divisional team responsible for Membership and Development, Meeting Services, Marketing and Communications. • Develop strategies designed to enhance each program’s value proposition for its members and all target markets to grow and retain customers of WQA. • Work with staff leaders to prepare annual business plans designed to meet the goals and objectives of member and public engagement programs, targeting customer and employee satisfaction. • Provide fiscally responsible administration; understand all aspects of financial planning and budgeting. Develop annual budgets and prepare budget revisions as needed. • Interact regularly with membership, target markets, external constituencies, political entities, community leaders and funding sources to maximize engagement, ensure retention and overall customer satisfaction. • Improve and strengthen strategies and plans related to organizational events, including but not limited to annual convention and Mid-Year Leadership Conference. • Identify and implement operational efficiencies to reduce costs, improve customer/member satisfaction, improve quality and remain competitive. • Foster an organizational culture which promotes employee engagement by creating, implementing and supporting programs designed to engage and retain employees.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, development, non-profit administration, or related discipline required; Master’s degree in same or similar field, strongly preferred. • Minimum five to eight years of business development and cross functional strategy execution experience with proven track record of measurable success required. • Minimum five years of experience with trade associations or in the water treatment industry including significant trade association involvement. • Minimum five years of experience managing and developing professional staff; strong teambuilding, staff development and engagement skills. • Demonstrated project management skills. • Ability to build strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to deliver clear and effective messages to all stakeholders. • Excellent written, organizational and customer service skills required. • Experience developing and managing budgets and meeting pre-defined targets and organizational goals and objectives. Advanced computer skills required; Microsoft Office, social networking, database management.

• Up to 25% travel as needed
