JMT is seeking a Project Engineer in Newark, Delaware who will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
Perform traffic engineering tasks, including the design of traffic signals, preparation of traffic signing, striping and pavement marking plans
Intersection lighting analysis and plan developments
Design intelligent transportation systems (ITS); and the preparation of detours, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans
Analyze high accident locations, performing traffic analysis, and improving signal timing
Corridor traffic analysis and optimization
Develop and review traffic impact studies
Develop travel demand forecasts using transportation planning models
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
Professional Engineering License preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
5-10 years of experience using traffic engineering design and analysis, planning and CAD software, such as HCS, SYNCHRO, and Microstation is required.
Proficient in discipline specific design software
Practical knowledge of construction of traffic control devices is desirable
DelDOT, County and/or local municipalities work experience is a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills
