Palm Beach County is seeking a Professional Engineer to develop and implement traffic signal and system timing plans. The Engineering and Public Works Traffic Division is known for its innovation, dedication and commitment to excellence. Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Traffic/Transportation Engineering or closely related field; minimum of four (4) years of experience in professional traffic engineering. Equivalency: Master’s Degree in Civil/Traffic/Transportation Engineering and two (2) years of related experience.
Necessary Special Requirement: Licensed as a P.E. in the State of Florida or the ability to obtain licensure by endorsement within 12 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH:Traffic signal timing development and implementation or traffic signal analysis packages (e.g., Synchro, Highway Capacity Software [HCS]); traffic signal systems; National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) traffic signal controllers; Signal Priority or Adaptive Traffic control systems; Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) control center operations.
