John T. Boyd Company, an international mining and geological consulting firm is seeking an experienced mining engineer for a full-time position with our Metals Group. The position is at our Denver location.
Not less than 15 years in senior operations management in minerals industry.
Professional registration under state or province licensure board, Registered Member SME, or other similarly recognized registration authority.
Qualified Person/Competent Person under NI 43-101, JORC, SK-1300.
Thorough knowledge of surface and underground metals mine planning and operations.
Good familiarity with metals processing techniques and alternatives.
Broad knowledge of:
supply chain requirements for operation of remote locations.
analytical techniques, protocols, and QA/Q.
mine finance alternatives including (equity, debt, streams, royalty, and forward sales).
legal aspects of mining, contracts, and finance.
In-depth knowledge of metals project strategic planning as well as detailed development of work plan, budgeting, and schedule.
Experience with production and economic modeling.
Experience with contract development and administration.
Good working knowledge of:
applicable public company regulatory environment, including SEC, TSX/TSX-V policy and public company disclosure requirement.
US and Canadian environmental regulatory requirements related to metals mining.
Ability to work collaboratively with superiors, subordinates and other department heads on a peer to peer basis.
Good communication skills both verbal and written.
Firm but polite communication style
Proficient computer literacy
geologic and mine planning software – good familiarity
GIS software – good familiarity
scheduling software (MS Project) - required
all other standard business and management software
Strong work ethic with demonstrated willingness to do what is needed whenever it is needed to get the job done.
Lead project teams, when so assigned, for completion of client jobs.
Serve as a resource on teams led by other project managers.
Assist with developing project budget estimates for work and drafting of proposals to clients.
In collaboration with Managing Director - Metals and project team, lead preparation of reports to clients for projects where applicant is designated as PM, and contribute to pertinent sections of reports for projects led by other PMs. Reports will include informal reports as well as formal due diligence, indicative valuations, expert litigation direct and rebuttal, technical reports (NI43-101, JORC, SK-1300).
As a PM, proactively administer work, including monitoring of hours and costs against budget while assuring work being performed is consistent with the specified scope of work.
Together with MD-Metals, serve as principal interface with clients.
Provide client business development services for the BOYD Metals Group.
Provide input to MD-Metals regarding a logical strategic growth plan for BOYD Metals Group.
Together with MD-Metals and other project managers, develop annual budgets for BOYD Metals Group.
Perform all other necessary and appropriate duties as may be required by MD-Metals from time to time.
