The NYC Transit Department of Subways employs 30,000 individuals who work together 24/7, 365 days a year, to move millions of customers safely to their destinations. These employees operate trains, maintain railcars, assist customers in stations, make critical right-of-way or electronic repairs, and provide administrative support to deliver timely and reliable customer service.
The NYC Transit Department of Subways is seeking a dynamic, customer-focused, experienced leader to assume the role of Chief Stations Officer. This key executive role is integral to the success of the NYC Transit Subway Action and Fast Forward Plans. The successful candidate will provide executive oversight of all operational, customer service, cleaning and maintenance related aspects of NYCT’s 472 subway stations, while overseeing the management of approximately 6,000 Stations personnel.
The Chief Station Officer will develop and manage an organizational structure that engages and motivates employees to continually seek ways to improve service and the overall customer experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring subway stations are consistently clean, accessible, safe and well maintained; formulating and executing operational policies and procedures for the collection of revenue; coordinating responses to emergencies, weather events, special events and service disruptions ensuring organizational continuity and adherence to NYCT procedures. The selected candidate will also plan and implement capital funding allocated for the enhancement and rehabilitation of stations, and manage staff and resources in accordance with the Stations operating budget.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation Management or a closely related field of study, and fifteen (15) years of full-time related experience, of which ten (10) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; Or A satisfactory combination of education and experience.
Ability to forge strong relationships and effectively communicate with employees at all levels in the organization, external agencies, and union officials.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
