The successful candidate for the Quality Technician will support value streams to monitor the performance of the processes and ensure quality systems are in place. Respond to nonconforming material with the appropriate action.
The ideal candidate must be able to:
Print reading including GD&T, includes making engineering recommendations for defining feature control frames to align with measurement method.
Create and revise production control plans and WinSPC Collection Plans to ensure consistency between the print specification and selected measurement method.
Establish suitable production measurement strategies using metrology principals for accuracy and resolution; using Gage R&R and Bias Study results as a measure of gaging performance.
Validate production measurement processes utilizing the Production Readiness Checklist.
Programming of metrology equipment including: CMM, Keyence IM, & Spectrophotometer
Perform gage maintenance and calibration, determine appropriate frequency of calibration based on past results.
Setup Gage R&R activities, interpret results, and apply metrology principals for improving GR&R results.
Maintain records of inspection results. Present data that's consistent with engineering and statistical standards using Excel, Minitab, Calypso & Keyence IM software.
Process ECO's representing QA function; ensuring a product is "Production Ready" as it relates to prescribed engineering changes
Advise operators and other technicians on the correct use of advanced metrology equipment, interpretation of the print specification and GD&T, and accessibility of controlled information through WinSPC and Adept.
Create Gage Operating Procedures (GOPs) and Work Instructions in support of production and QA technician operations.
Experience and Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED required.
Ability to select and use the appropriate type of inspection devices such as calipers, micrometers, gage pins, thread gages, custom gages, comparators, microscopes, and CMM, then evaluate their measurement results to determine conformance to specification.
Four or more years of experience in dimensional inspection on components in a production environment.
Ability to read and interpret prints, including geometric dimension and tolerancing (GD&T).
Demonstrated understanding of basic statistics including calculations of mean, median, mode, standard deviation, range, and variance. Must be able to create and interpret control charts and process capability measures such as Cp and Cpk.
Must be able to perform Gage R&R study and interpret results.
Problem solving skills, ability to apply DMAIC and use basic quality tools such as cause and effect diagrams, process flow maps, check sheets, Pareto charts, scatter diagrams, control charts, and histograms.
Lean Manufacturing techniques such as 5S, standard work, Kanban, etc.
