Assistant, Associate or Full Professor – Civil & Environmental Engineering

The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a full-time tenured or tenure track faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall of 2020. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of assistant professor, associate professor or full professor in the broad area of Autonomous and Connected Vehicles and Systems. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students working on interdisciplinary transportation research with a focus on autonomous and connected vehicles and systems. We are particularly interested in candidates with a track record involving innovative and collaborative research at the intersection of transportation, health sciences/psychology, civil, mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering. More specifically, the candidates are expected to have demonstrated competency in one or more of the following areas: embedded systems for autonomous and connected vehicles and for connected transportation infrastructure; sensor-fusion and its applications to localization, path planning and vehicle control; human-computer interactions for autonomous driving and system disengagement, signal and image processing for object detection and tracking; and wireless communications systems for autonomous and connected transportation. The primary appointment is expected to be in the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering with a possible affiliation within complementary disciplines in engineering. The successful applicants will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate level; advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate research students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected.
