The research project (Analysis of countermeasures to supply chain disruptions in medical and pharmaceutical industries) is based at York University, Toronto, Canada, and is planned to be undertaken over a period of two years.
Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate
A recently completed (within the last three years) PhD in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Operations Management, Management Science, Economics, Decision Sciences or related field is a minimum requirement. Advanced knowledge of, and demonstrably significant experience with, mathematical or economic modeling and numerical analysis using a computer programming software (e.g., R, Mathematica, MATLAB, Maple) is required. In-depth knowledge of supply chains in manufacturing and/or medical industries is also required. Advanced knowledge of game theory and/or contract theory is preferred. Significant experience with agent-based and/or discrete event simulation, preferably using the AnyLogic simulation platform, is also preferred. This will be a 12-month appointment, and may be extended by up to an additional 12 months. In view of presently strict restrictions for travel into Canada arising from the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the initial 3-6 months of the engagement may be carried out remotely if the candidate is not currently in Canada. The succeeding months of the engagement will shift to Toronto, Canada once travel to Canada is allowed. While the engagement is initially outside of Canada, the Research Associate will receive a compensation equivalent to CAD 1,916 per month. Upon commencing the engagement in Toronto, Canada, a Postdoctoral Fellow (Postdoctoral Visitor) appointment will be issued, with a monthly compensation of CAD 3,583. The indicated amounts of compensation are subject to final budgetary approval. The research project is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

Dr. Toyasaki has been conducting research in the area of sustainable supply chain designs involving environmental and disaster/emergency issues. His current research interests include: supply chain designs in disasters/emergencies, interaction between fundraising and humanitarian operations and supply chain risk management. His works have been published in leading academic journals and recorded high citation counts. Many of his previous and current research projects have been supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Canadian Institutes of Heath Research (CIHR).
