DUTIES: Prepare technical reports and memoranda associated with traffic engineering, transportation planning studies/projects and traffic impact analyses. Tasks include, but are not limited to: technical writing; assembling, collecting, and analyzing traffic data; and performing traffic operational analysis using specialized software (e.g., Synchro, Highway Capacity Software (HCS), and CORSIM) and technical traffic engineering manuals (e.g., Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Trip Generation Manual, FDOT Manual of Uniform Traffic Studies, FDOT Quality/Level of Service Manual, etc.). Perform roadway safety analysis to assess existing safety issues and to predict the expected number of crashes associated with specific Maintenance of Traffic Plans or future roadway configurations using Highway Safety Manual (HSM) techniques and the ISATe safety analysis tool. Develop and assess multimodal conceptual roadway design alternatives to improve traffic and or safety operations of an intersection or corridor based on future travel demand. Conduct reviews of traffic engineering analyses and traffic impact studies on behalf of cities, counties and the Department of Transportation. This includes documenting the review comments and guidance in formal correspondence. Organize, schedule and prioritize work assignments and tasks. Coordinate tasks with other disciplines and professionals. Analyze problems and develop innovative engineering solutions for traffic congestion or safety problems on freeways and local roads. Perform field reviews to verify existing geometric and traffic conditions, signal timing, traffic queuing, conflict assessment, and travel times. Attend meetings and or teleconferences to represent work products and or to collect information related to project assignments. Work with Synchro Traffic Software, Highway Capacity Software, MicroStation, VISSIM and CORSIM.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other closely related discipline plus 6 months of experience. Foreign degree equivalent is acceptable. Experience to include working with Synchro Traffic Software, Highway Capacity Software, MicroStation, VISSIM and CORSIM.
