Plan and manage funding to meet generation requirements by directing the preparation and monitoring for conformance of maintenance and operations budgets.* Ensure the maximum availability of all equipment at all Power Stations by identifying maintenance needs; investigating and developing solutions to operational problems; planning, directing and monitoring repairs and proactively mitigating equipment failures.* Ensure the maximum economy of operations by monitoring unit efficiencies and optimizing operations to meet dispatching requirements.* Assure safety in the execution of operations and maintenance activities by directing the development and implementation of safety programs, monitoring employee compliance, directing the proper operation and maintenance of all systems and equipment.* Ensure power station compliance with environmental regulations by communicating with Environmental Department and taking corrective actions as necessary.* Assure the optimal utilization of departmental and interdepartmental resources and direct the timely and cost effective procurement of goods and services from outside vendors and contractors as necessary.* Ensure power station compliance with insurance safety requirements and taking corrective actions as necessary.* Ensure emergency response action plans are in-placed and act as the Emergency Response Coordinator.* Oversee the fuel supplies and perform all federal reports.* Assure an effective, efficient and well-motivated employee resource by providing Equal Employment Opportunity in the areas of the hire and promotion of qualified individuals, the training, development and empowerment of employees, and the fair and consistent administration of performance evaluation and discipline, as consistent with Board policy.* * Denotes essential function
MINIMAL EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution and 5 years related work experience in coal-fired electric generation; or an equivalent professional experience consisting of 10 years as a coal-fired power plant operator, mechanic, electrician, or technician journeyman and 4 years of coal-fired power plant multi-craft management/supervision experience with an additional post high school education preferred. Must have an extensive interdisciplinary knowledge in the operations and maintenance aspects of large coal-fired power plants and understanding of power plant theory of operations. Requires a strong background in planning, scheduling, ability to simultaneously manage a variety of issues and objectively interact with both union and non-union employees.
