Structural Plans Processor

The Structural Plans Processor examines, approves or disapproves walk-through and drop-off plans submitted for approval for compliance with the adopted Building Code. Discuss with and advises architects, engineers, and contractors as to necessary changes to plans for approval. Evaluates alternate methods, procedures, materials and products for compliance with code requirements. Provides technical advice and information concerning the Building Code and other applicable regulations to architects, engineers, contractors, and homeowners. Makes decisions as to the feasibility of deviations from the code under various conditions. Revise the plan review checklist as new changes become effective. Responsibilities Attends meetings and responds to e-mails from architects, engineers, contractors and the public to discuss and clarify disapproval comments. Resolves conflict and offers clarifications relating to plan review duties for architects, engineers, contractors and public during office hours. Minimum Qualifications: Must possess a State of Florida Professional Engineer license under the structural discipline. Applicants who were licensed as a Professional Engineer under the civil engineering discipline on or before March 1, 1993 are also eligible. Five years of experience as a structural engineer practicing within the area of jurisdiction of the Building Code with responsibility for the design of building structures are required. All applicants must be eligible for certification by the Miami-Dade County Board of Rules and Appeals as specified in Chapter 8 of the Code of Miami-Dade County. License must be in good standing with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation with no pending complaints. All applicants qualifying for employment will be subject to extensive background screening.
