Post-doctoral Research Fellow
University of Utah
The laboratory of Associate Professor Marcus Pezzolesi PhD, MPH in the University of Utah’s Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and Diabetes and Metabolism Center is seeking a highly-motivated post-doctoral research fellow to lead research projects aimed at understanding the basis of diabetes, diabetes-related complications, and chronic kidney disease using unique ‘big data’ resources developed by the Pezzolesi lab and others at the University, including comprehensive electronic medical record data, extensive genealogy data, a state-of-the-art biorepository, and high-throughput next-generation sequencing and other '-omics' technologies. Applicants should be passionate about research and enjoy solving complex problems. The successful candidate will lead NIH-funded projects that aims to accelerate gene discovery in diabetes and its related complications through integration of the above resources. The successful candidate will have experience in both wet-bench and computational research (or be willing to gain experience in this area) and will be expected to collaborate with other members of the lab and researchers at the University of Utah and other institutions and to contribute to the training of other lab members. Additionally, the successful candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills as they will be expected to have an active role in preparing manuscripts, publishing their work in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting their work at national and international conferences.
