About the Position
The Dir - Data Science & BI (Business Intelligence) is responsible for providing vision and strategy for all data management and analytics activities. This position will structure and lead large complex analyses across different Kenco business units and effectively synthesize analytic results to improve business outcomes, support decision-making, and enable process improvements. The position will also be responsible for growing and evolving the Data Science and BI capabilities to provide Kenco and its customers a competitive advantage through data-driven digital transformations.
The position will also build and lead a highly skilled, action-oriented team, and provide leadership in the development of tools, methods and processes to utilize data to enable effective and timely business decisions across the organization.
Manage an enterprise BI semantic layer (e.g., Qlik Sense and/or Power BI)
Work closely with the data analytics and supply chain solutions team to ensure semantic models and analytical use cases drive appropriate data modeling and ETL (Extract, transform, load) efforts on the modern data platform (e.g., SQL DB supported by Data Lake Stores and Data Factory pipelines)
Provide thought leadership, especially when it comes to industry-relevant advanced analytics use cases that are predictive and prescriptive in nature
Develop processes around intake and prioritization of work, working with the IT agile teams
Work with data scientists and engineers to maintain modeled and derived user data features in the analytics layer
Lead the team to collaborate with internal customers to identify needs and define requirements, prioritize requests, and to develop, test and implement advanced data analytics models
Partner with internal business partners and leaders across the organization to understand current and future analytical and reporting goals, and deliver data-driven scalable reporting solutions to drive strategic, tactical and operational decisions
Advocate for the effective use of data, and drive a culture of data-driven decision-making across the company
Maintain and support the data science and business intelligence systems and technology roadmap, ensuring that it is aligned with the needs of the business
Create and manage content for our client-facing reporting tools
Collaborate with business leaders to define business requirements for new business information technologies
Provide leadership, mentorship, and ongoing development to the Advanced Data Analytics and Business Intelligence team
Participate in data governance initiatives
Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field required. A working experience of the same is also acceptable for the position. PhD preferred.
7 years of experience, with at least 2 years in a data science and business intelligence management role, involving the development and deployment of data science and business intelligence tools, preferably in a supply chain environment
Progressively responsible management roles with at least five years of management experience preferred
Experience working with and creating data architectures.
Strong knowledge of end-to-end data lifecycles across traditional data warehouses (Azure Synapse, AWS, etc.), relational databases (Oracle, SAP, SQL, etc.), business intelligence reporting (Power BI, Qlik Sense, Tableau), and big data analytics (Databricks, etc.)
Experience querying databases and using statistical and computer languages (R, Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
Experience working with large-scale data sets in a cloud-based data environment, specifically in AWS
Demonstrated experience coaching and leading teams in data mining algorithms and statistical modeling techniques such as clustering, classification, regression, decision trees, anomaly detection, recommender systems, sequential pattern discovery, and text mining.
Practical experience of the implementation of data stewardship, including master data management, data quality, data dictionaries and ETL tools
Experience in big data technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, S3, MapReduce, Apache Spark
Excellent communicator in both written and in-person collaborations
Product development and management experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders throughout the organization, both technical and non-technical
Strong storytelling skills with experience presenting to large technical and non-technical audiences all the way to the C-Suite, emphasizing translating data science outcomes into business implications

This position is expected to travel approximately 25% .

Telecommuting is allowed. Employer will assist with relocation costs.
