In the face of a global pandemic, hospitals need to restructure their supply chain in order to be more robust, resilient and responsive to the needs of their patients and maintain a continuous flow of critical medical staff and supplies while minimizing delays and shortages. The goal of this research program is to leverage the advanced IT technologies and data-driven decision support tools towards the needs of hospital supply chains (HSCs). More specifically, we first aim to design a cloud-based HSC management system to enhance collaborative information sharing among the key stakeholders and provide real-time access to the inventory of medical supplies. Incorporating a real-time inventory management system that relies on a data-driven inventory control policy and procurement planning procedure is also within the realm of this objective. Our second goal revolves around designing a data-driven decision model imbedded into a digital platform for the dynamic allocation of staff and medical resources to critical points of demand in a regional healthcare (HC) network comprising of hospitals, long-term care centers, and senior residents. The main methodology to achieve these goals relies on the latest advances in large-scale optimization, data analytics and simulation.
