Company Information: Horton, Inc., a global airflow industry leader in reliability, service and innovation has an opening for a Quality Engineer to work in our Roseville, MN location.
Responsible for continuously improving production systems to ensure that product conforms to specifications while operating in the most cost-effective manner without compromising customer expectation, quality or operator safety. Provide plant quality and supplier quality engineering support in new product development, current products and assembly lines, as well as non-production functions. Provide support to Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
Drives quality improvement in the manufacturing plants, the supply base and in the non-production areas.
Effectively utilize data, lean principles, and problem solving methodologies to solve problems, prevent recurrence and proposes solutions.
Self-starter who is able to work both independently and together in teams while improving quality and reducing costs.
Provides support to Horton’s Environmental and Quality Management Systems (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and IATF 16949).
Must be able to effectively communicate to all levels of the company.
Review and perform capability studies.
Assists in the development and maintenance of Design and Process FMEA’s.
Maintains corrective action system. Initiates corrective actions (ie. 8D’s) to determine root cause for customer complaints, internal and external audit findings and internal and external product failures/defects.
Maintains internal audit system and conducts internal audits.
Maintains control plans, process FMEA’s, and process flows.
Assists with the development of PPAP documentation for customers and review of supplier PPAP’s.
Performs capability studies with Minitab software.
Assists in designing or purchasing measuring equipment to meet product specifications relative to quality.
Supports manufacturing locations with continuous improvement projects and quality assignments.
Able to travel up to 25%, both domestically and internationally (ie. customer/supplier visits)
Demonstrate an expertise in problem solving skills, including being able to identify, investigate and countermeasure manufacturing or supplier related technical and / or systemic issues.
Posses the ability to be self-directed.
Able to build effective teams and the ability to work with suppliers, plant manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure the deliverables are met.
Experience with manufacturing processes for components.
Experience with automotive components and functional requirements.
Qualified candidate will have a 4-year technical or business degree or equivalent and three to five years of varied experience in engineering.
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Relocation allowance may be provided if the individual has all of the necessary qualifications.
