The Quality Engineer is a professional who understands the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control. This body of knowledge and applied technologies include, but are not limited to, development and operation of quality control systems, application and analysis of testing and inspection procedures, the ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices, an understanding of human factors and motivation, familiar with quality cost concepts and techniques, and the knowledge and ability to develop and administer management information systems and to audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Verify and document analysis findings of rejects by performing electrical and/or mechanical tests to determine the failure mode of the product not conforming to the specifications
Serve as a Quality contact for customers
Utilize failure cost data to prioritize work activity
Propose or directly perform rework efforts of non-conforming product bringing the product back within specifications
Lead and/or or support manufacturing, ME’s, QE’s and DE's in implementing necessary corrective actions to prevent re-occurrance
Conducts various additional mechanical, electrical, electronic and material testing in collaboration with the Senior QE, DE and ME
Identifies and utilizes the appropriate equipment and processes for conducting electrical and mechanical tests, as required
Evaluates test results and provides recommendations concerning accuracy of the test results
Provide accurate information which can impact test equipment and design decisions
Perform First article Inspections as directed
Explain and interpret MCG requirements and/or specifications to Manufacturing and Quality personnel
Establish and implement adequate gauging, measurement and testing techniques
Work within the MRB to determine the disposition of suspect/rejected material
Practice quality disciplines and use of statistical techniques such as: Problem solving, Root Cause Analysis, APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, etc.
Maintain QMS databases, perform trend analysis, and submit reports as assigned
Help design and implement product test, measurement, and verification methods
Must be able to work under direction when general tasks are assigned; must be able to plan and arrange own work to meet due dates. Will be expected to refer only unusual cases to supervisor
Must be able to check own work since it is not directly verified. Errors may significantly damage equipment and impact information supplied to customers, and in some cases, vendors
Exercise tact in order to minimize friction and obtain cooperation when making contact with other persons within and external to the Quality Department
Ability to concurrently handle multiple project assignments and ability to lead as well as participate on cross-functional project teams
Execute the responsibilities of a Moog employee according to lawful and ethical standards, as referenced in the Moog employee handbook
Work with the ME’s, QE’s and DE's on continuous improvement projects using Six Sigma techniques
Perform other Quality related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Two (2) year technical college education in a related field and 3 plus years of quality related work experience in a manufacturing environment -or- Four (4) year technical degree and Two (2) plus years of quality related work experience in a manufacturing environment
