Preferred Qualifications:

This position requires working in a deadline-focused environment, balancing multiple projects and addressing changing priorities while providing leadership, supervision, guidance, and direction for the implementation of the Transportation requirements of the Land Development Code. Highly qualified candidates will possess the required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that they can perform the essential functions of the job. At a minimum, qualified candidates will possess the following specific knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Experience in the design and upgrade of a Traffic Management Center upgrade project.
• Experience deploying and managing a robust traffic signal communication system that includes reliable and redundant communication to field devices.
• Experience planning and deploying a network of CCTV cameras to monitor traffic.
• Experience designing and deploying dynamic message signs to display travel time information for the public.
• Experience with GIS.
• Experience with Bentley Fiber.
• Strong understanding and comprehension of traffic signal design and operation.
• Strong understanding and comprehension of IP networks, VLANs and multicast video.
• Strong understanding and comprehension of fiber optic and wireless radio networks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

• Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus eight (8) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.

Licenses or Certifications:

•  Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.
