College of the Ozarks invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in physics and engineering. This position requires a self-motivated, versatile individual with strong classroom teaching skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with other faculty members. The successful candidate must embrace the College’s Christ-centered mission, demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate students, commit to serving as a mentor and positive role model, and pursue integration of the academic discipline and Christian faith.
Teaching responsibilities will include the physics sequence (including lab), statics, dynamics, and engineering courses pertaining to the candidate’s field of expertise. The candidate will also share in development of physics and engineering curricula.
Non-teaching responsibilities include working with other faculty to maintain laboratory equipment, developing and promoting the College’s growing engineering program, and supervising student projects and internships. Additionally, the successful candidate will advise students, participate in semiannual faculty workshops, serve on campus committees, and attend monthly division meetings.
Prior to appointment, the candidate should hold either an M.S. (or higher) in engineering with 18 hours of graduate level coursework in physics, or an M.S. (or higher) in physics and have either 18 hours of graduate level course work in engineering or significant, documented engineering experience such as licensure. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Ph.D. in engineering or physics with at least one degree in engineering, undergraduate teaching experience, and industry experience.
