The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering & Projects Director to lead our efforts in enhancing the community through strategic project implementation. This is a unique opportunity to drive the future of our beautiful island by managing a $74 million Capital Improvement Program (CIP), Stormwater Utility, and Transportation initiatives.
About the Role:
As the Engineering & Projects Director, you will provide strategic direction and oversee the operations and dedicated team of the Engineering and Projects Department. Your leadership will be crucial in implementing our ambitious CIP, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, and fostering innovation in project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and Manage: Direct the activities of the Transportation, Storm Water, and Public Projects Divisions, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
Strategic Implementation: Develop and administer the Town’s Capital Improvement Program, coordinating closely with engineers, consultants, and contractors to execute projects and enhance the community.
Beach Renourishment: Drive and manage the beach renourishment project, ensuring sustainable and effective preservation of our island’s coastline.
Budget Oversight: Develop, justify, and administer departmental and division budgets.
Community Engagement: Communicate project goals and progress to the public and stakeholders, conducting meetings and presentations to gather feedback.
Serve as the Town Engineer.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
A minimum of ten years of relevant experience with extensive senior management experience.
Valid South Carolina Professional Engineer License.
Proven track record in leading large-scale infrastructure projects and managing cross-functional teams.
