Installs, repairs, and inspects smoke and fire suppression systems; inspects, tests and repairs fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels and peripheral equipment. Identifies hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair. Inspects, repairs or replace smoke/heat detectors and sprinkler head; repair and test wet/dry systems; tests fire alarm system devices using appropriate diagnostic programs and test equipment. Performs tests on fire pumps and standpipe systems. Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
High level of knowledge & application of the National Fire Alarm Code and Unified Facility Criteria 03-601-02 and/or UFC 03-600-01 as well as other applicable codes and standards.
Must be thoroughly capable of reading, interpreting, and applying system design plans, as well as building construction drawings and documents.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm and mass notification systems and equipment.
Ability to perform true test smoke detector sensitivity procedure.
Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining.
Must possess driver’s license with at least one year of remaining validity.
Must possess, or be able to secure and maintain a Secret Security clearance
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING
Professional Certifications from National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) is required.

1-8 PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS
1-8.1.1.3 Craftsperson’s with other recognized journeyman or craftsman-level qualifications for fire protection systems, such as National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) (Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems, Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems, or Special Hazard Suppression Systems), or formalized labor organization-based journeyman training, or similar programs.
NICET Certified Level I, II, III and IV – Fire Alarm Systems (NICET Certified Level III is required)
NICET Certified Level I or II – Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems
EDUCATION:
Must have at least High School diploma, Vocational or Technical course graduate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum five (5) years of experience in the Fire Protection/Life Safety Industry including:
Extensive knowledge of various types of Fire Alarm Systems (conventional, addressable, VHF radio transmitters and receivers, etc.)
