Groundwater Management Associates, Inc. (GMA) is a small professional consulting firm with licensed geologists and engineers. We specialize in complex water resources and environmental projects.
We are seeking a motivated civil/environmental engineer to grow our team and help work on water resources and/or environmental projects in either our Apex, North Carolina or Greenville, North Carolina offices. Come collaborate with our experienced engineering staff and help manage projects in these areas: water resources projects (including well site and pumping system design); raw water transmission line design; well site water treatment/direct to distribution; water system operation and management plans; construction observation and inspection; remediation system design and operation; and project management of environmental investigations related to soil and groundwater characterization and remediation. Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the GMA team on a wide variety of projects to support our growing company and our clients.
Communicate with and understand client needs.
Manage projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary, and scheduling requirements.
Ability to provide clear verbal and written communications.
Collaborate on all aspects of projects to address client needs.
Strong commitment to jobsite and general worker safety.
Travel to jobsites to oversee project work and observe contractor activities as needed (Estimate of 15% average time in the field).

Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum requirements are a Bachelor of Science in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, or a BS in a related science curriculum and an advanced degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering.
An advanced degree is a plus.
Licensed Professional Engineer in NC or can obtain reciprocity within two months of hire.
Must be able to report and work in one of our two office locations (not a remote position).
Strong organizational skills and attention to technical details.
Managing all phases of projects including: proposal preparation, delegation of work, schedule, cost, quality, and client relationship.
Computer skills – Strong computer literacy skills, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient at writing, reviewing, and editing technical reports to meet scope and quality objectives and client expectations.
Legally authorized to work in the US, and GMA will not provide employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B).
Groundwater Management Associates, Inc. (GMA) was founded by Dr. Richard Spruill in 1986 and incorporated in 1989. Today, GMA is a well-respected and successful hydrogeologic and engineering consulting firm with two offices in North Carolina. Our primary areas of expertise are the evaluation and development of groundwater resources, and the assessment and remediation of environmental contamination. GMA’s senior staff also provides high-quality litigation support and expert witness services for disputes involving environmental contamination and water resources.
GMA’s professional staff has approximately 240 years of combined experience, and includes eight licensed professional geologists (PG), two professional engineers (PE), and technical and office support staff. Many of our staff are licensed as geologists or engineers in other states, including VA, SC, PA, FL, TX, KY, and KS. GMA has corporate licenses to practice engineering (Apex, NC #C-0854) and geology (Greenville & Apex, NC #C-121) in North Carolina. Two GMA staff are NC Certified Well Contractors, and one Registered Site Managers (RSM) under NC’s Registered Environmental Consultant (REC) Program for Inactive Hazardous Waste Sites (GMA is a REC).
