Core Values: People • Passion • Integrity • Innovation
The Role We’re seeking a hands-on, experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our growing presence in the Mid-Atlantic region. You’ll play a key role in client-facing technical work related to fixed equipment in the Pulp and Paper industry—helping our clients stay safe, compliant, and operational. This position is ideal for someone who is highly motivated, able to manage projects independently while proactively solving technical challenges and looking to grow into a leadership or consulting role.
What You’ll Do
Conduct inspections and condition assessments of fixed equipment, including metallic storage tanks, pressure vessels, and piping, at industrial facilities such as pulp and paper mills, chemical plants, and water/wastewater treatment sites.
Evaluate corrosion and other material-related degradation affecting both metallic and non-metallic equipment and structures.
Analyze equipment condition data to assess fitness-for-service in accordance with relevant engineering codes and standards.
Oversee small-scale capital projects focused on fixed equipment upgrades or repairs.
Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for new construction and rehabilitation projects.
Prepare detailed repair specifications and technical drawing packages.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural and chemical engineers, designers, and project managers.
Travel to client sites as needed (approximately 25%, with increased frequency during scheduled outages).
Work safely in industrial settings, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
What You Bring
B.S. in Mechanical or Materials/Metallurgical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in fixed equipment design, repair, inspection, failure modes, and troubleshooting
Experience in the pulp and paper industry with basic understanding of mill processes
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, API 510/570/579/650/653)
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to deliver work on time and can operate with the autonomy expected of a senior-level consultant
Willingness and ability to travel (25% of the time for short-duration assignments)
Physical ability to safely navigate uneven surfaces and stairs/ladders/scaffolding, work in confined spaces, and work at heights (with reasonable accommodations)
Preferred: PE License; experience with API/ASME pressure vessels and tank design/repair; experience with tools such as Compress, SolidWorks, Abaqus, MathCAD, or AutoCAD; background in corrosion engineering or pulp/paper processing equipment; familiarity with non-metallics (FRP, modified concrete, etc.)
What We Offer
Stability: a rapidly growing company with year-over-year profitability and no history of layoffs
100% employer-paid premiums for health, dental & vision
Paid holidays, PTO, and sick leave
401(k) with 3% employer contribution (after one year of employment)
Company-issued gear: laptop, PPE, branded apparel, etc.
A collaborative, flexible, and supportive team culture
Other Requirements
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be current resident of North America
Finalists may be required to submit prior deliverables or technical reports for review
Pre-employment drug screening & background check required
