The County Engineer reports to The Office of County Administration (OCA) and oversees the Harris County Engineering Department of approximately 695 full-time employees. The Department consists of several core areas of services including, Study, Design, Bid & Construction Services for Road & Bridge Projects, & Traffic Signals, Capital Design, Bid, Construction of the majority of County Facilities, Acquisition of Real Property & Tax Sales Coordination Services, Utility Coordination Services, Maintenance of the Majority of County Facilities, Permitting and Floodplain Management Services, Regional and strategic planning Services, Disaster Recovery Operations - Continuity of Government Task Force, Household Hazardous Waste Services.
